The urban center of the City of Zacatecas is declared a Historic Monument Zone
On June 6, the Mexican Government published the Decree declaring the urban core of the City of Zacatecas a Historic Monument Zone. This zone comprises 169 blocks containing 827 buildings and elements constructed between the 16th and 19th centuries, each with significant heritage value.
This declaration strengthens the protection of the Historic Center of Zacatecas, recognized for its Outstanding Universal Value and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1993. It also represents a significant step in fulfilling the commitments Mexico made as a State Party to the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
