IRPMZ presents the conference: A Conqueror's Home. Historical Notes on the House of Juan de Oñate

On October 14th, the conference "Abode of a Conqueror: Historical Notes on the House of Juan de Oñate" was held in the central courtyard of the Regional World Heritage Institute in Zacatecas, a Category 2 Center under the auspices of UNESCO. The conference was given at night by researcher and historian Victor Hugo Ramírez Lozano of the Zacatecas Museum.

In attendance were Carlos Augusto Torres Pérez, Director General of the IRPMZ (National Institute of Cultural Heritage of Zacatecas); María de Jesús Muñoz Reyes, Director of the Ramón López Velarde Zacatecas Institute of Culture; Alejandra Acuña Sánchez, Undersecretary of Artisanal Development; and Carlos Alberto Torreblanca Padilla, Director of the INAH Zacatecas Center.

In addition to the general public, the conference was attended by artists from Sapiens Sapiens Teatro Lab, from the state of Chihuahua. They presented the play "Vestido Negro. Crónicas del último vestido de Isabel de Tolosa Cortés y Moctezuma" (Black Dress. Chronicles of the Last Dress of Isabel de Tolosa Cortés y Moctezuma) as part of the 21st Zacatecas International Street Theater Festival, which is related to the building located at 831 Juan de Tolosa Street.

Ramírez Lozano presented a historical chronology of the building's use from its construction, in the early days of Zacatecas City, to the present. He also shared a genealogy of the building's main owners, as well as images of the various stages of its existence, known as the "Casa del Conquistador."

At the end of the conference, Inet Simental, a representative of the Sapiens Sapiens Teatro Lab group from the state of Chihuahua, shared her impressions on the topic and invited attendees to the play "Vestido Negro," which took place later that day in Callejón Luis Moya in the Historic Center.
