Keynote Lecture “National Program of Workshop Schools of Colombia: Tools for Peace”

The keynote address "Colombia's National Workshop School Program: Tools for Peace" was held in the meeting room of the Regional World Heritage Institute in Zacatecas, delivered by Dr. Juan Luis Isaza Londoño.

The event was held within the framework of the "Empiricisms and Perspectives" series, organized by the IRPMZ in collaboration with the National Institute of Anthropology and History and the Zacatecas State Government. The purpose of this series is for international experts to share examples of good practices associated with the management of World Heritage sites. The initiative was also part of the state government's "2024 Year of Peace" program.

The event, where Isaza Londoño shared the results of the Colombian Workshop Schools, especially in terms of national pacification, job creation, and identity strengthening, was attended by representatives from the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology), the School of Anthropology and the Faculty of Architecture of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, the Undersecretariat of Artisanal Development, the Secretariat of Urban Development and Tourism of the Municipality of Zacatecas, the State School of Conservation and Restoration "Refugio Reyes" of Zacatecas, the Secretariat of Public Works of the State Government, and civil society.

This Colombian National Workshop School Program has trained more than 30,000 people to date and is recognized by the United Nations system as a best practice for social inclusion, a solution to multiple problems associated with marginalization and violence, and a protection and safeguarding of intangible and tangible cultural heritage.
