On April 16, a working meeting was held with World Heritage site managers from the English-speaking Caribbean. The purpose of the meeting was to explore the needs and challenges of this subregion regarding capacity building in order to define a short- and medium-term collaborative strategy.

The meeting was convened by the World Heritage Centre and was attended by Mauro Rosi and Rochelle Roca Hachem of this UNESCO secretariat, Valerie Magar Meurs, Eugene Jo and Nicole Franceschini of ICCROM, as well as Carlos Augusto Torres Pérez, director of the Regional World Heritage Institute in Zacatecas, who presented the IRPMZ 2024 Work Plan and the modalities in which it could collaborate.

Participating managers included Percival Hanley of St. Kitts and Nevis, Elsoit Colas of Haiti, Joan Hippolyte of Dominica, Christopher Waters of Antigua and Barbuda, Debra Kay Palmer of Jamaica, and Stephen Fokké of Suriname.

At the meeting, internal issues related to staffing and funding were identified, and the importance of planning training not only through virtual or hybrid modalities, but also in person, was reaffirmed. Among the priority topics of interest shared by the managers were asset management, asset impact assessments, and climate change, among others.
