Today marks the anniversary of the city of Zacatecas's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List
On December 11, 1993, the Historic Center of the City of Zacatecas was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Twenty-eight years after this important event, the Zacatecas City Council (2021-2024), the Ministry of Education, the Zacatecas Institute of Culture, the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the State Association of Chroniclers, and the Regional Institute of World Heritage in Zacatecas organized several activities to promote community participation and the protection of heritage.
A drawing and photography contest was held, along with a civic ceremony, a solemn session of chroniclers dedicated to this anniversary, and the creation of a plaque to commemorate the event. All participants agreed that this city, due to its status as a World Heritage Site, should be part of the development of the diverse communities that live in and visit it. Zacatecas, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, is one of the 69 World Heritage Sites in the region comprised of Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
