25th Anniversary of the inscription of the Uxmal Archaeological Zone on the World Heritage List

“Sustainability, in addition to being environmental, must be economic and cultural,” stated Frédéric Vacheron, UNESCO representative in Mexico, at the closing event of the panel discussion held on the 25th anniversary of the inscription of the Uxmal Archaeological Zone on the World Heritage List.

He emphasized the importance of community participation, heritage protection, and the necessary coordination among all stakeholders involved. Finally, he expressed that an agreement reached on this commemoration should lead to ongoing reflection on World Heritage.

A great event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the ancient city of Uxmal and the sites along the Puuc Route. Thank you, archaeologist José Huchim, and your team, for this excellent initiative and its results!
