Public Hearing: World Heritage and Development. Sombrerete y Chalchihuites

On Tuesday, April 30, the second public hearing was held in the Municipality of Sombrerete, focusing on the theme "The Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, Cultural Route: World Heritage and Development." The hearing was organized by the Government of the State of Zacatecas through the Regional Institute of World Heritage in Zacatecas. Architect Alan Murillo Murillo, Mayor of Sombrerete, thanked Governor Alejandro Tello Cristerna for holding the hearing in his municipality. He highlighted the great potential of Chalchihuites and Sombrerete, as well as their role along this historically significant cultural route. This route, stretching 2,600 kilometers, carried not only silver and merchandise, but also religion, knowledge, values, and a rich culinary tradition.

For his part, Mario Alberto Lazalde López, Municipal Chronicler of Chalchihuites, pointed out that both towns should be sister cities to forge an alliance and promote the heritage sites that are part of the CRTA (Regional Council of Heritage of Zacatecas) in the state. Likewise, Dr. José Francisco Román Gutiérrez, Director of IRPMZ (Institute of Heritage and Heritage of Zacatecas), noted that four of the thirteen sites registered within the CRTA of the State of Zacatecas are located between Sombrerete and Chalchihuites, and emphasized the importance of holding these meetings to generate new development opportunities through heritage within the community.
