Launch of the #UnescoMéxicoReúne Campaign
On April 17, 2020, the Mexican Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (CONALMEX) and the UNESCO Office in Mexico launched the #UnescoMéxicoReúne campaign, with the main objective of contributing to UNESCO's global response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative aims to maintain cooperation with various partner institutions and organizations in the country, provide support and assistance, strengthen resilience, and undertake response actions in the fields of science, culture, education, communication, and information.
In a virtual meeting, Mr. Frédéric Vacheron, Representative of the UNESCO Office in Mexico, officially launched the initiative, accompanied by Ms. María Edith Bernáldez Reyes, Secretary General of the Mexican Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (CONALMEX). They called for a concerted effort to contribute to generating options for promoting culture in Mexico.
The Regional Institute of World Heritage in Zacatecas congratulates and recognizes this important initiative and joins it, contributing to the implementation of the #ShareOurHeritage campaign, launched by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, promoting collaboration among the States Parties in the Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean region. Promoting access to culture and education about cultural heritage is essential during this enormous challenge for all the peoples of the world.
