On Thursday, December 5, a working meeting was held between members of the Budget and Public Expenditure Committee of the LXVIII Legislature of the State of Zacatecas and the Regional Institute of World Heritage in Zacatecas (IRPMZ), a Category 2 Center under the auspices of UNESCO. Dr. José Francisco Román Gutiérrez, Director of the Institute, outlined the objectives and functions of this organization to contribute to the improved implementation of the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

He also presented the members of the Budget and Public Expenditure Committee of the LXIII Legislature with the historical budget allocated to the Institute since its creation, highlighting the significant progress and commitments for the 2020 Work Plan. These include training activities for the conservation of World Heritage, promoting World Heritage through education, and enhancing Zacatecas' international presence as a leader in the conservation and sustainable use of World Heritage.

Dr. Román expressed his gratitude for the invaluable support received from the Governor of the State of Zacatecas and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute, Mr. Alejandro Tello Cristerna, for his efforts throughout his administration. Finally, the Director of the Institute submitted a request for financial resources to be used for activities planned for 2020.
