RWHIZ collaborates with UNESCO to update the Spanish translation of the Operational Guidelines for the World Heritage Convention

The Regional World Heritage Institute in Zacatecas (RWHIZ) announces that the Spanish translation of the 2025 version of the *Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention* (WHC.25/01, July 16, 2025) is now available. This update was initiated, funded, and prepared by the RWHIZ—within the framework of its institutional cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre—with the aim of broadening access to foundational documents for the implementation of the 1972 Convention.
The *Operational Guidelines* serve as a primary instrument for implementing the World Heritage Convention, establishing the criteria and procedures for the inscription of properties on the World Heritage List, as well as for their protection, conservation, management, monitoring, and the mechanisms for international assistance. The updated Spanish translation represents a significant contribution toward facilitating access to current information and strengthening the capacities of States Parties, site managers, and World Heritage specialists—particularly in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The translation is now available for free consultation and download via both the UNESCO World Heritage Centre portal and the RWHIZ Documentation Centre. We invite institutions, professionals, and individuals involved in the conservation and management of World Heritage to consult and share this new version, which helps expand the availability of technical and regulatory tools in Spanish.
