Workshop on Basic Concepts of the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World and Natural Heritage

The workshop "Basic Concepts of the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage," implemented by the Regional Institute of World Heritage in Zacatecas (IRPMZ), in close collaboration with the World Heritage Centre, began its activities on August 26 and will continue until August 28, with the participation of Focal Points, Site Managers, national and local authorities, educational institutions, researchers, and academics from Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico.
On behalf of Mexico, Dr. Eduardo Jaramillo Navarrete, Director General for the United Nations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave a welcome message to the participants, highlighting the importance of the workshop which, in addition to fostering regional cooperation between Mexico and the countries of Central America and the Caribbean, will contribute to the better implementation of the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Natural Heritage through research, training and capacity building of the actors involved.
