International Workshop "Towards a Regional Strategy for Updating and Harmonizing Tentative Lists"
The Regional World Heritage Institute in Zacatecas, the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Paris, and the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture for Latin America and the Caribbean in Havana are organizing the international workshop "Towards a Regional Strategy for Updating and Harmonizing Tentative Lists," which will take place from November 5 to 7, 2019, in the emblematic city of Havana.
The main objective of this workshop is the regional harmonization of the Tentative Lists of the States Parties that have signed the 1972 World Heritage Convention.
The aim is to implement a strategy to strengthen the credibility and representativeness of the World Heritage List, both from the perspective of promoting underrepresented categories of cultural and natural heritage, and to increase the future inscription of new nominations from the region.
As part of the Workshop, participants from each country will analyze their Tentative Lists and formulate assessments to maintain their continuity and importance to the region (Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean), and propose new sites they consider to be of Outstanding Universal Value.
